How do we set goals and pave the way to success for our colleagues? We sat down with our Web Product Owner, Monika Gerybaitė, and she gave us a great overview of the workplace culture at Oxylabs.
I believe experimenting and openness to failure are the main reasons for our success. Public data isn’t being used to its full potential yet, so it’s really exciting and motivating to have an entire market we can conquer with innovation.
The people. Although we all have different personalities, we’re united in passion for experimentation and trust for each other.
We appreciate how our employees each bring their best to the table, and our job is to nurture every colleague.
Being a diverse yet tightly connected community, we learn and get inspired by each other — and that helps us become better specialists.
We love our people — and that’s not an overstatement. We appreciate how our employees each bring their best to the table, and our job is to nurture every colleague. That’s why we give our talents all the resources they need, keep processes fluid, and actively learn from one another.
We have training budgets, mentorship programs, and other internal knowledge-sharing tools. But here are the cultural aspects that help our colleagues grow.
As we live in a fast-paced tech world, we set a direction based on data and trends, then put our trust in our colleagues and help them turn their ideas into reality.
First, it’s our feedback culture. We created a safe setting where people can fail, share feedback, and learn freely. Then, it’s the measures we’ve put in place to help talents transition to managerial and senior positions. For example, when we see a colleague who is ready for such a role, we provide them with resources and support for this transition.
Overall, we, as direct managers, foster the culture of ownership in our teams. We trust each other’s decision-making — and that’s a great environment to try, fail, get up, and learn from the experience.
We use an Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework. It lets us combine company-level strategic direction with team-level initiatives. This way, teams get to decide what will make the most impact and contribute their ideas for the next quarter. There’s no micromanagement!
As we live in a fast-paced tech world, we set a direction based on data and trends, then put our trust in our colleagues and help them turn their ideas into reality.
Ownership can be easily overdone. Some people might try doing everything themselves, neglect feedback, and overthink solutions.
To address these risks, we have cross-functional squads with dedicated CEOs and CTOs in the form of Product Owners and Tech Leads. They keep our processes smooth, overlook the bigger picture, and are accountable for critical decisions.
Not every new trend needs to be followed immediately. We choose technology by its maintainability, efficiency, ease of adoption, community, and support.
New solutions are being incorporated all the time, but our core needs are to be stable and keep our products fast, reliable, and secure. For example, Golang is the perfect choice for us.
If all of this sounds like a culture you’d thrive in — hop on board, we’d love to have your talent on our team. So check out our open positions.
